As Carrie Underwood’s social media pages regularly feature some big names, it’s no wonder that some of them are her closest friends.
American Idol winner and singer-songwriter, Carrie Underwood, has several close friends within the country music industry, including Dolly Parton, Miranda Lambert, Mark Childers, and Brad Paisley. Her best friend is Ivey Childers, a successful cake business owner.
Read below to explore who Carrie loves to hang out with, both on and off the music stage.
Ivey Childers
Underwood refers to Ivey Childers, owner of cake business IveyCake, as her ‘bestie’ on Twitter. Childers was asked to bake a custom cake for the finale of the 2002 American Idol, but the two didn’t meet until several years later.
Childers began dating Mark Childers, Underwood’s bass player and bandleader, so the pair quickly became inseparable and often hang out together with their husbands.
In 2010, Childers designed the cupcake tower for Underwood’s wedding to Mike Fisher and in 2020, she made a Kermit The Frog cake for her son Isaiah’s birthday party.
Childers tells CMT, “We got married a year apart, we’re having babies a year apart. We’ve kind of experienced all the milestones in life together. She’s most definitely my very best friend.”
Mark Childers
As Underwood’s bass player and musical director, not to mention husband of her best friend, it is thought that Mark Childers is also good friends with the singer. Childers started playing for Underwood’s band in 2005, claiming it to be the best musical experience of his life.
It was actually Childers who first introduced Underwood to her husband, Mike Fisher, who was a National Hockey League star at the time. According to Country Living, Underwood texted Childers “Hot, hot, hot”, after meeting Fisher for the first time backstage.
When they’re off stage, the pair also speak on social media – in a Twitter exchange in April 2020, they were joking about Underwood giving him a haircut. If he trusts her with a haircut, he must trust her with anything.
Miranda Lambert
Another of Underwood’s most notable friendships is with fellow musician, Miranda Lambert, whom she is regularly photographed with at awards and events. In 2014, Underwood featured on Lambert’s country hit, ‘Somethin’ Bad’.
Somethin’ Bad shot to No.1 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, becoming the first female duet to do so in over two decades. Since then, the pair often congratulate each other on musical milestones.
In October 2019, Lambert praised Underwood in a heartfelt Instagram post, reminiscing on a performance they did together. She writes, “The blond bombshell that is Carrie. She blows me away every time I hear her sing. She never wavers in who she is or what she stands for.”
Then in November 2019, Underwood posted a throwback photo of the pair on Instagram, wishing Lambert a Happy Birthday. With the pair’s personal and professional history over the years, it is clear that this will remain a long-lasting friendship.
Brad Paisley
Country singer-songwriter, Brad Paisley, is also a regular on Underwood’s Twitter feed. In 2011, she featured on his country hit ‘Remind Me’, which was named Taste of Country’s Song of the Year for 2011.
Watch here as Paisley surprised fans at the C2C (Country to Country) Festival by dueting with Underwood over a FaceTime call.
The pair have also hosted the CMA (Country Music Association) Awards together on several occasions. It is thought that Paisley’s relationship with his wife and family is what inspired Underwood to start her own.
On March 10, 2020, Paisley wished Underwood a Happy Birthday, with a photo on Instagram of the pair smiling in a car together. It looks like this solid friendship isn’t going anywhere.
Dolly Parton
Perhaps one of Underwood’s closest professional acquaintances is none other than the country music icon, Dolly Parton. The pair famously collaborated on the song ‘I will always love you’ on the All-Star Holiday Special in 2009.
At the 2019 CMA Awards, the pair also opened the show along with fellow country singer Reba McEntire. The trio performed a rendition of Parton’s 1987 hit ‘Those Memories of You’.
Parton has featured on Underwood’s Instagram several times, where she has referred to Parton as her hero and idol. In 2018, she wished Parton a Happy Birthday with a cheerful message commenting on her talent and generosity.
